LYNN ANN MORRISSEY STRIKE

On September 26th, 2016 the Good Lord carried Lynn Ann Morrissey Strike home. Lynn was born in Cohoes, New York to the late William T. Dee and Agnes Fitzgerald Morrissey. She graduated from Albany Academy for Girls and from Sweet Briar College with a B.S. in Political Science. She then moved to Washington DC to work for the Federal Government. There she met and married Thomas A. Strike in June of 1958, after he received his PhD in Medical Physiology from Georgetown Medical School. Lynn was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish for 55 years. Faith, family, and being Irish defined her life.

Lynn is survived by her husband of 58 years and six children: Anne Carter (Michael), Mary Goldstein (Jay), Kathleen Hayden (Jeffrey), Thomas M. Strike (Sarah), Timothy Strike (Niza), and Sara Niemynski (Gregory). She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren: Jessica Carter Taglieri (Matt), Sharon Hayden Goebeler (Robbie), Christopher Carter (Maureen), Matthew Hayden, Patrick Carter, Laura Hayden, Kara Carter, Noah Strike, Brian Niemynski, Kelley Strike, Peter Niemynski, Jazzlynn Goldstein, Megan Niemynski, Stephanie Strike, Katelyn Strike, Jordan Strike, and Ryan Strike and one great-granddaughter Hayden Rose Goebeler; her sister Joan Altekruse of Kensington, MD her brother John Morrissey of Cohoes, NY and many nieces and nephews. Her brother Dr. William Morrissey of Burke, VA predeceased her.

A visitation will be held at 10am on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church (9705 Summit Avenue) in Kensington, MD. Immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.

DAVID C. LARKIN (Age 86)
On Thursday, September 22, 2016 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Margaret Larkin and former husband of Toshiko Asaka; father of Marie, Annette and John Larkin; grandfather of Charlotte, Bella and Max; stepfather of Jennifer and David Norman. He spent the last day of his life in a coma surrounded by his family, his priest Fr. Dan and the incredible staff of Suburban Hospital – a day marked with laughter, tears and love. In true Irish fashion, Dave left when the party was over. Just three weeks shy of his 87th birthday, Dave was a child of the Depression and all that that entails. A frugal man who always “cleaned his plate”, Dave was a locavore/hunter/gatherer who taught his children the pleasures of fishing, gardening and raiding local forests for nuts, berries and the occasional flora and fauna. A graduate of Villanova who received his master’s degree from University of Maryland. He loved women, wine and sang the Villanova fight song often and badly. Margaret worked at St. John’s Child Development Center for 32 years and served as Assistant Director for Business and Fiscal Affairs. On Tuesday, September 20, 2016, of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Rose Mary Greenwood; brother-in-law of Michael Francesca and Vido Francesca. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Born in Surrey, England in 1924, Stuart moved to western Super Mare at the age of 10. He attended private school in England. In his 20’s he immigrated to Canada. Stuart received a Master’s degree in Engineering at McGill University. He moved to Winnipeg and taught at the University. Stuart then immigrated to the US and attended the University of Maryland, where he received his PhD in aerospace engineering. He worked at the University of Maryland in the Research Department and continued his career as an aerospace engineer. Stuart and Rose Mary married in 1989 and shared a deeply loving relationship. On Monday, September 19, 2016, after a long battle associated with myelodysplasia. Rosemary was a Catholic Charities social worker in Richmond, VA for many years. She was a resident of Bedford Court in Silver Spring, MD since 2006, where she was involved in many activities. Rosemary was born in Washington, DC in 1926. She graduated from Catholic University in 1949 with a degree in Social Services before moving to Richmond. Rosemary is the beloved daughter of the late Rose and Nicholas Barbella of Washington, DC. Survivors include a brother, Nicholas (Isabel) of Vienna, VA and a sister, Maria Barbella of Waldorf, MD. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph (Susan) of Blue Belle, PA and later, her sister Regina (Octavius) Covington of Silver Spring. She leaves many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 4101 Norbeck Road, Rockville, MD on Friday, September 23 at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. On Thursday, September 15, 2016, of Washington, DC.  Beloved mother of Hilda Smith, Antonio Morrobel, Carlos Morrobel and Adriana Morrobel.  Also survived by grandchildren Jennifer Woodhouse, Carmen Martinez, Deborah Morrobel, Jason Smith, Amaris Morrobel and Elisa Morrobel; and great-grandchildren Luca Martinez and Henry Woodhouse. Carmen came to the United States in 1967 from Dominican Republic and dedicated her life to God and her family.
